Google Drive is one of the best platforms for sharing and storing files, which is great for people who are always on the move. Despite the presence of competitors such as Dropbox, Google Drive continues to occupy an integral space in cloud storage. One of the main advantages of Google Drive is the ability to upload, edit, and save files in the documents portal, Google Docs. Google Docs can be used to edit and save different file types, including Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, images, and drawings. If you have a PDF file that you want to upload and share on Google Drive, converting it to Google Docs, Slides or Sheets will enable you to edit the document without having to download it. This article will tell you how to convert PDF to Google Docs.
Wondershare PDFelement was designed to accomplish a multitude of PDF tasks. It is an excellent tool for converting PDF documents to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, which can then be uploaded to Google Docs for future editing by one or more people. You can also insert or update security features such as digital signatures, redacted content, passwords, and watermarks on documents before uploading them to Google Drive.
Apart from conversion, PDFelement can be used to add, edit, or delete many editorial elements on PDF documents. And with OCR, you usually have the option of playing around with scanned PDF files, just as you would any other regular PDF file. Annotations such as highlights, strikethroughs, and underlines can be inserted or removed using this tool. You can merge multiple PDF files to make one file, split a single PDF file to create several files, insert or replace pages to change the way the PDF file is organized.
To get started with Wondershare PDFelement, simply download the installation package and install it on your PC. PDFelement supports all desktop versions of Windows from Windows XP to the latest version of Windows 10. You can also get in 9 different languages, which caters for non-English speaking users.
Since Google Docs supports only a limited number of file types, you will first need to convert your PDF file to a format supported by Google Docs. This will depend on the type of content on the PDF file. For instance, if you want to share the file as a presentation file, you will have to convert the PDF to PowerPoint before uploading it to Google Docs.
PDFelement downloads and installs automatically so no effort is required on your part. Once this is complete, launch the application and upload your PDF file by clicking the "Convert PDF" button. In the pop up window, you can click Add Files to import more PDFs for conversion.
Move to the top right corner in the pop up window, choose from "Word", "Excel", or "PPT". It depends on the content of the PDF file and intended use. You can activate OCR to read scanned documents, change the destination folder for converted files, or even select specific pages to convert to the Google Docs format.
Once you are satisfied with the settings on this window, click "Convert" to start. This shouldn’t more than a couple of seconds but will depend on the size of the PDF file.
Once the conversion process has completed, navigate to the output folder to access the converted file. With your Google Docs-compatible file at hand, open your browser and navigate to Google Drive. Log in to your account and upload the converted file to your account. Change the sharing and editing settings as needed and upload the document. Anyone with the necessary permissions can now edit the file online without having to download it, edit it, and re-upload it to the cloud.
Before uploading your PDF files to Google Drive, you need to ensure the documents can be edited with Google Docs. Some of the supported file types include documents files such as doc, docx, dotx, txt, odt, and rtf; spreadsheet files such as xls, xlsx, xlt, xltm, csv, and ods; presentation files such as ppt, pptx, pps, ppsm, potx, and odp; drawing files including emf; and scanned objects that have been saved as pdf, gif, jpg, or png. Converting your documents to formats that are compatible with Google Drive will enable you or others to edit and share the documents easily.
