How to Censor PDF for Safe Publishing

The standard procedure for government agencies and private companies for many years is that they use Microsoft Word for the preparation of documents, and convert into PDF formats to disallow further editing. The procedure is sufficient for many cases. However, converting the documents to PDF does not entirely guarantee the safety of the information. Additional steps required in preventing copying sensitive information from the documents. Step 1. Open Your PDF in PDFelment

Launch PDFelement on your computer. From the Home window, press the "Open" button. In the next pop-up screen, navigate to the file that you want to open and press "Open" to upload.

For Mac users, start the program, and from the Home window choose "Open" to upload the document to PDFelement that you want to redact.

Step 2. Redact Texts for Censoring

Once the PDF opens, choose the "Protect" tab. From the submenu, click the "Mark for Redactions" button. Then select the area that you would like to hide permanently. After marking the area, you can change the color of the redaction area. You can even add custom text and redaction codes. Now press the "Apply Redactions" button to remove the content permanently. Head to the "File" tab and choose "Save as" if you have not created an additional copy of the document.

Click the "Redaction" button to open the options available. Here you will notice that you have several options. Click the "Mark for Redaction" button to begin marking the text that you want to remove. If you have multiple pages to mark, then select "Mark Pages to Redact" button. Finally, click "Apply Redactions" and save your document.
