Once you have opened PDFelement on your Mac, now it is time to upload the PDF you want to protect. Hover the cursor to the bottom left and click on the "Open File" button. On the new window you will have to select the desired PDF file and click on the "Open" icon. If you click on "Edit PDF" file also you can still open the PDF with the program and edit it before protecting the file.
When the PDF file is on the program, go to the right hand side and click on the "Protection > Encrypt with Password" button that at appears at the bottom.
On the next window that appears, mark on "Require a password to open the document" to be able to enter texts on the open password field. To restrict the PDF from any form of editing, mark on permissions. Provide a permission password and printing passwords. After settings everything correctly, click on "OK". You will get a security notification. Agree by clicking on the "OK" button.
