Creating an Academic Presentation Poster is an easy task if you know what the things to include are and where to start. There are several templates that may be seen in the internet to serve as a guideline and here is another way of creating one:
Step1
Plan your poster. A good poster takes time so first thing is to prepare the topic and the informations that you have gathered including photos, next think about who will be your audience to have an idea on how to present the poster. Consider the size of your poster and make a draft of lay out of your poster.
Step2
Start making the poster by putting the title on the topmost of the page, centered and in sentence case font. Create an engaging title that would orient every reader into what the poster is about and keep it short.
Step3
Next is to input the name of the author/s of the poster. If there are some collaborators include their names, and the name of the university or academy.
Step4
Make each box or section for each content, start with the Introduction on the left side of the poster, after that leave a balance space for the next box below it which is the Materials and Methods, for this part leave a space for photos, graphs or diagram that you will include. Continue doing the partitions for Results, Conclusion and Acknowledgements minding equal spaces for each. Remember to plot the sections horizontally going to the right.
Step5
Lay out the photos, graphs and diagrams where they correspond following the spaces and flow of the contents.
1
Plan the poster ahead of time. Consider some questions and issue that may help you create an effective and good poster such as what is the aim of your topic, what are the key words you will use to come up with engaging title and headers for each section, and the space you have for your poster and its size.
2
Use some color schemes that are not too loud and would not hurt the eyes of the reader as well as the design should sacrifice the readability of the texts and the texts should not be too long for each sections.
3
Do not hesitate a make several rough draft to be able to come up with a nice blocking of the contents before proceeding to the final poster, consider different methods on how to do the poster, either digitally or manually sticking contents into a board and choose the highest resolution of the photos to include.
4
Proofread the final outcome, check for some grammatical errors and some misspelled words and do not forget to correct or change it.
