Redaction codes is a set of codes developed by certain government organizations of United States to hide the sensitive information. A certain code will represent what is hidden under the blacked out data. Here’s a step by step guide on how you can add redaction code in PDF using Wondershare PDFelement for Windows or Mac.
Launch PDFelement on your computer and open the PDF file that you want to redact. You can either click on the "File" button and select "Open" to import the PDF file or can simply click on the "Open" button and select the file.
For Mac users: Once the application is launched, click on "Open File" and import the PDF file.
Now you need to open the redaction function, click on the "Protect" tab and select "Mark for Redaction". Now, select the area that you want to black out and right click on the area and please click on the "Properties". The properties tab will be opened on the right side of the screen which will allow you to change the filling color or add the overlay text on the redacted area.
For Mac users: Navigate to the page where you want to redact the text and click on the little "Arrow" button next to the "Redaction" button. Select the "Mark for Redaction". Now, select the area or text that you want to redact, and it will open the redact properties on the right side of the screen.
To add the redaction code, check the "Redaction Code". Finally, select the code set and select the code that you want to apply to your PDF file. Once you have added the redaction code, click on the "Apply Redactions" to confirm the change.
For Mac users: Now, choose the "Use Overlay Text" option from the right side of the screen and change the "Custom Text" to "Redaction Code". Select the code set and code entry that you want to add and finally click on the "Apply Redaction" option in the top menu.
