How to OCR Selected Pages of a Scanned PDF

Scanned PDF file is an image that has been embedded in a PDF format. This kind of document is scanned on a scanner and saved in a PDF file format. To edit scanned files, you have to OCR them to make the texts fields editable. Before you OCR PDF, you will notice that there are pages that you do not need to OCR. Here you will have to look for software that allows you to select page ranges to OCR. It is not easy to find such software but in this article we will focus on how to OCR selected pages of a scanned PDF file with an ideal tool.

For Mac user, you can download the latest version of Wondershare PDFelement for Mac since it has been built to allow you OCR selected pages of PDF file. This feature allows you to select: odd pages, even pages current page or customize pages that you want to OCR.

After performing OCR on your PDF file the program will then retain an original copy of your scanned PDF file. Part 2How to OCR Selected Pages in PDF on Mac

To select pages to OCR with Wondershare PDFelement is pretty simple. Here is a quick guide on how you can do so.

Step 1. Import Scanned PDF

Launch the installed Wondershare PDFelement on your Mac. On the program click on "File" on the main menu and then click on "Open" from there, you can select scanned PDF file that you want to OCR some of its pages. You can also import PDF file by clicking on "Open File" icon situated at the lower right on the home screen.

Step 2. OCR a Range of Pages Only

Next, you need to perform OCR. Once the scanned PDF is opened in the program, the program will prompt you to perform OCR. You can do so by click on "Perform OCR" on the yellow notification bar or by clicking on "OCR" button at the top right corner of the interface.

On clicking the Perform OCR button, a new window will appear which lets you select page range, document language and DPI ranges. Click on "Page Range" arrow down button and choose whether to OCR odd pages, current page, even pages or you can manually enter the pages. After that, click on "Perform OCR" button.

Step 3. Edit PDF

Once the program has OCR PDF successfully, it will open it in the program so that you can make changes where possible. Click on "Edit" button on the toolbar. Next, move to the paragraph or line that you want to edit and double click on it. You will now be able to edit, delete or change texts. As you modify PDF, you can also change font size, color, and style.

To modify pages, move to the right-side Page menu where you can see various options of modifying pages. Click on the desired option and follow the prompts. Remember to save the changes once you are done editing PDF file.
