However, there are instances and situations where a company or for that matter anyone would not like to share sensitive information with others. The only way to protect or prevent others from seeing such content is redacting the document, that is, blank out text in PDF.
Redact is the process of removing the text permanently from a document. With the help of redaction feature, you can ensure that the sensitive information present in a file will not be accessed by anyone even with the help of metadata. On Mac: After finishing the installation, launch PDFelement for Mac. From the Home window, upload the file that you would like to blankout using the "Open File" button.
Once uploading is complete, navigate to the "Protect" tab to get additional features for redacting. Select the "Mark for Redaction" option. You can now select the information that you would like to remove permanently with the help of the marking tool. Apart from the text alone, you can also select images. You can change the color of the redacted area and add custom text as well as redaction codes on the redacted portion in the document.
On Mac: Once the file uploaded, you can begin blanking it out by clicking the "Redaction" button at the top right corner. Select the text or image that you want to remove permanently.
The process will permanently blank out the selected region, and you cannot reverse the action once you save the document. If you are sure about this, click the "Apply Redactions" button. If you did not create a duplicate copy of the file that you are redacting, then under the "File" tab, choose "Save As" to save the file with a different name.
On Mac: After you've select the redaction area and change the appearance of the redaction, you can now go to "Redaction > Apply Redactions" to confirm the change.
