How to Edit Links in PDF

Having just completed a report you wanted to send out to your co-workers or customers and converted it into PDF, the next logical step would be to make sure that everything is working just the way you want it to. But when you try the links in the PDF document, you find that they are incorrect or not working correctly. To send out the document, you need to edit PDF links but you don't know how you can edit links in PDF without first converting the document to an editable format such as Word. But if you are short on time, you need an alternative way to edit PDF links without converting the document first. This article will provide you with an easier way to edit a link in PDF files both for Mac and Windows users.

Step 1: Open the PDF

Opening the PDF document is very easy. Launch PDFelement for Mac and then simply drag and drop the PDF files into the main window. Or click the "Open File…" button to browse your computer and open the selected PDF.

Step 2: Add a PDF Link

First click and enable the "Markup" button, then several annotation tools with appear below. Click on the "Add Link" button to open the setting windows. In the new window, set the link action as you like and click "Set Link" to add it.

Step 3: Edit the PDF Hyperlinks on Mac

Under the "Markup" tab click on the "Edit Link" button and then double-click on the link you want to edit. This will open the link where you can edit the "Link Action". You can either choose to "Open a web page" or "Go to a Page view" within the PDF document itself. Click "Set Link" when you are happy with your selections.

How to Edit Hyperlinks in PDF on Windows
To edit PDF links on windows, you need to download and install PDFelement for Windows and then follow these very simple steps

Step 1: Open the PDF File

Just like in its Mac counterpart, there are several different ways to open a PDF document with Wondershare PDFelement for Windows.

You can just drag and drop the PDF file you wish to open to the main window of the program and it will be opened. You can also launch the program and then click on "File" and then "Open" to browse for the PDF file.

Step 2: Add or Edit PDF links

Once the PDF document is open, you can then go ahead and edit the PDF links. To do that click on “Edit” in the main menu and then click on the "Link" button.

  • To add a PDF link, you should move your mouse with cursor to the area you want to set link and draw a rectangle. This will open a new "Link" window; you should set the link action and then click "Set Link".
  • To edit a PDF link, you should double click on the Link anchor text within the document to launch the "Link" dialog box. Here you can edit the "Link Action" choosing to either "Open a Web Page" or "Go to a Page View". Click on "Set Link" to complete the process.

Step 3: Delete a Hyperlink in PDF

If you had placed a link on the wrong text, you can easily delete the link. To do this, click on "Edit" again and then "Link". Then right click on the linked text and from the options presented, select "Delete" or "Cut" This will remove the link immediately.
