How to Remove All Links from PDF on Mac (Sierra Included)

When creating or editing PDF documents on Mac, many of us often find links to external websites when we copy content from the Internet. Most websites often include code that ensures users who copy-paste content from their web pages also copy website addresses or other information that links back to the original site - even if we intend to edit or paraphrase the copied information.

There are also plenty of ways which links can be used for good, such as in the reference section of an academic paper or report. Otherwise, links should be sparingly used and sometimes removed altogether. Links are usually part of a document editor's markup arsenal and are normally grouped together with highlights and text boxes. When looking to remove all links from PDF on Mac, the best tools are often stand-alone applications, despite the high number of online-based tools for the job.

Part 1Best Batch PDF Links Remover for Mac

Wondershare PDFelement for Mac is a stand-alone, premium program used widely for editing, viewing, printing, and modifying PDF documents. It is easy to use, intuitive and supports batch operations that enable users to perform editing functions on multiple documents at the same time, thus saving time. Its integration of multiple features also means users don't have to populate their storage space with different programs for performing each single PDF editing function.

Apart from basic editing PDFelement is widely popular as an advanced PDF tool, with different functions for converting, compressing, and editing image-based and scanned PDF files (thanks to its Optical Character Recognition – OCR – algorithm). You can combine multiple file types – irrespective of file type – into a single PDF file. It allows for the addition of simple annotations and markups, page merging, extraction, and splitting using simple and easily visible buttons.

Part 2How to Delete All Links from PDF on Mac

Step 1. Upload PDF File

When the installation is complete, launch the program. You should be able to see an option to upload files when the program starts. Click the "Open File" button on the Home window, select the file to remove links from your computer, select it, and click "Open" to upload the file. The next window should show you the uploaded file ready for editing using PDFelement for Mac.

Step 2. Select Markup Type

This next step is pretty straightforward. On the Home menu bar above, locate and select "Markup". This launches a smaller window to the side of the Home window that allows you to edit and delete markups from your document. Next to the small "Eye" icon, you will see a "Trash" icon. When you click this icon, a small pop-up window appears with several markup options for removing markups.

Step 3. Removing Links from the Uploaded PDF

In the list on that window, tick "Link" and then click "Remove". This promptly removes any links that had been attached to your document. As you see from the last dialogue box, you can permanently remove other types of markups from your documents by simply selecting the specific ones you want to remove.
