Copyright infringement has turned into quite a huge issue these days. You don't have to be a self-made, hard-working artist, writer or vlogger to understand the graveness of the issue. Whatever your career is (in my case, graphic design), you do want to make sure that the result of all the hard work, is fully appreciated and thieves won't lay their dirty hands on your precious piece of art. One way to protect your document is to deny the public access to portions of your PDF document before the final publication. This process is called "Redaction". This article addresses a key step in how to add overlay text to a redaction mark.
As you may have already noted, there are unending, multiple options at our disposal when it comes to working with PDF documents. Thus, not everyone is vigilant enough to be able to choose the best tool to meet their expectations. Wondershare PDFelement is your best choice. Its redaction tool lets you permanently black out text, image and pages with colored boxes, redaction codes and custom texts.
Everything that ought to be included is already thought of; it allows you to create, edit, convert and share your documents in like, no time! With it, you can add text, edit blocks of text, and add image and objects to your documents, turn stacks of files of miscellaneous formats into one solid, all-secure, smooth and rocking PDF document. It even converts PDF to Docx, Doc, Txt, HTML, JPEG, PNG, and EPUB and more.
Let's get down to the "Use Overlay Text" option already. If you check this option, you can then insert a piece of text to show up on the redacted area to explain, for example, the reasons for redaction or type of the hidden information. You can also adjust this explanatory text using the provided options. Now follow the steps below.
Launch PDFelement and then click the "Open" button ("Open File" button on Mac) on the Home window. This will enable you to browse the file you want to redact and import it into the program.
Under the "Protect" tab, click on "Mark for Redaction". Hover the cursor on your desired area and draw a rectangle. Then right-click on the rectangle and choose Properties. Now, simply check the "Overlay Text" box and under "Custom Text", enter your desired text.
For Mac users, click the "Redaction" button on the top right corner and then select the item to be redacted. The Properties window will appear on the right side. Check the "Use Overlay Text" box. Enter your text and adjust it.
